Photon Max

You can recharge you Photon Prepay connection through My Tata Docomo app, download on your Smartphone from Google play store / Apple app store and also over the internet, from the convenience of home or office. Click here. Credit Cards / Debit Cards of all major banks are accepted. Net banking facility is also available.

Customers can check balance and validity from My Tata Docomo app and can also give a missed call to 0-72080-12345 and receive Balance and validity information over SMS, on their alternate contact number.

You can update your alternate contact number by calling up on 1800-266-121 and following the IVR option of registering the new number. If the customer is calling from an already registered number and wants to register any other number, that option is also available in the IVR (“Another account” option).

You can check your outstanding and due date information from the My Tata Docomo app. Alternatively, you can also check the same from the My Account section of the website.

The software installation process for the modem is automated; simply connect the modem to an available USB port on your computer and then wait for the installation to begin. Note, if you are using an Apple MAC OS, please install the software by using the incidental Compact Disc and configure the CD-ROM. You can get these from the driver CD. If you don’t have a driver CD, please contact your supplier for details.

Yes, the Tata Docomo 3G is compatible with the Apple Mac computers with both PowerPC and Intel processors running Mac OS 10.4 and above.

Windows Vista contains enhanced security features, which warns you when any application attempts to install. Please select ‘Allow’ to begin the software installation.

The system configuration is not suitable for the auto-run. If the system does not launch the installation automatically, you can run the installation program through My Computer > Tata Docomo 3G. If you have installed some other version of the installation program, please uninstall it first.

Please install the driver program manually. Go to the system’s Device Manager and uninstall all the old drivers. Plug the device again and check whether the drivers are installed through auto run. If not, download the corresponding OS and device driver from the website of Tata Photon Max and install manually.

If the system configuration is not proper, this may happen. Please open the UI program manually. You can find it in the Windows Quick Start menu or as a shortcut on the desktop. If you still don’t find it, uninstall the program and install once again.

The installation programs of the Tata Docomo Photonmax haven't been installed properly. Solution: Run the installation program first, then connect the modem. If you use the Win XP operating system, install the drivers according to the Windows indication information to operate.

  • The modem isn't connected well. Solution: Restart the computer, or connect the modem again.
  • The SIM/USIM card isn't inserted well, such as inserted in reverse. Solution: Insert the SIM/USIM card correctly again.

Photon Max (Network Connection)

Check from the GUI page whether the network is available or not. If available, the customer can switch to the manual network selection and select the available network (Airtel will be considered as the home network). On selection of the same, a connect button will be activated. Click the button to connect. In case of selection of a network other than Airtel, please note that roaming charges will be applied.

  • Check whether the roaming service of USIM card is enabled. If not, contact the network service provider. Alternatively customer can contact customer care for activation of roaming services
  • Contact the supplier to check the APN settings. Go to Network settings, select APN settings, enter ’Tatadocomo.internet’ in the APN.

In order for the Tata Docomo Photonmax software to work correctly, it must be allowed to connect through your firewall. Select the appropriate option, for example, Allow, Unblock or Permit. If you require further information on how to configure your firewall to allow this application, please contact the vendor of your firewall software.

Once the software reports that it is connected, IE will automatically launch the Tata Docomo home page. Easy links to popular web pages are available on the UI. Alternatively, you can open the web browser and enter your desired web address to start browsing. The default Internet browser on a PC is Internet Explorer; this is normally located on the Start Menu and can be identified by a blue ’e’ icon. The availability of popular web pages on the UI is needed to be checked.

  • You are in a place where no GSM/DATA/EDGE/WCDMA/HSDPA network is available, such as an underground parking lot, tunnel, etc. Solution: Get to a place with good signal strength.
  • The network currently is busy. Solution: Try later.
  • The APN in the configuration files is incorrect. Solution: Check the APN in the Settings-> Connection. Correct APN details should also be mentioned. Go to the Network settings, select APN settings, enter ’Tatadocomo.internet’ in the APN.
  • The modem data has error. Solution: It is perhaps the DATA or WCDMA network problem. Please visit the Huawei service center who is the local supplier.
  • The network type selected using the manual search is wrong. Solution: Select the correct network type according to the SIM/USIM card.

  • After connection, there is no data transfer, which might be the reason that you cannot open web pages. Solution: Check that the APN configured in the settings menu of the UI is correct.
  • The IE browser has got problems. Solution: Upgrade to a newer version or reinstall the IE browser.
  • The operating system is infected by a virus. (Such as Worm.Blaster which can take up a quantity of upload data flow and results that it can't receive downloaded data flow so that customer cannot open any website) Solution: Use a professional anti-virus software to check and kill the virus in the operating system completely.
  • You have connected to any other APN, which cannot connect to the Internet. Solution: Recheck the configurations in the settings menu and try again.

  • You are in a place where no GSM/DATA/EDGE/WCDMA/HSDPA network is available, such as an underground parking lot, tunnel, etc. Solution: Use the swivel option to place the modem in an upright position. Get to a place with good signal strength.
  • The modem isn't connected well. Solution: Pull out and insert the modem cable safely again.
  • The SIM/USIM card isn't inserted well, such as inserted in reverse. Solution: Insert the SIM/USIM card correctly again.
  • The position of the Tata Docomo Photonmax inner antenna is not correct. Solution: Adjust the angle of Tata Docomo Photonmax to get a better signal. Use the swivel option to place the modem in an upright position.

Photon Max (SMS & Call)

Check the capacity of your micro SD card, the maximum supported capacity is 32GB. Check if the card is inserted properly. If the problem persists, use another micro SD card.

Photon Max (Dialer / UI)

There are various functional buttons on the main interface. Select the different functional buttons to carry out the corresponding operations.

  • Connect: Connect to the Internet.
  • Settings: Set as “normal”
  • About: Relative Information for the application software Menu: Open the log, help and other windows.
  • Home – The user can view the signal strength and click on the Connect to Internet tab to start the Internet.
  • WLAN Status – To view the IP address of the device and device name.
  • SMS – To view inbox, outbox, draft and SMS settings.
  • Update – To view if any higher OS version is available.
  • Setting – To view different settings of the device.

On the main UI screen, the network status will be indicated as follows:

  • R - Roaming
  • E - Edge network
  • 2G - DATA/GSM network
  • 3G - UMTS/HSPA

The signal strength is indicated graphically through increasing bars. No bar means no/poor signal and full bars indicate a very good signal strength.
